New Feature: Graphics Library for Rich Text Editor

This feature is for the Standard and Advanced packages.

While it was previously possible to add graphics to your content through the Rich Text Editor - it was certainly not easy. The new Graphics Library feature provides you an easy method to upload and then select graphics to use in Announcements, Events, Custom Pages of your website.

You will find two new upload buttons at Admin/Content.

Site Graphics
  • Can be used to upload original graphics, without downsizing.
  • Maximum file size of 150KB to ensure fast page loading.
  • Essential for those that create their own animated GIF images which should not be modified.
Site Photos
  • Will automatically downsize graphics during upload.
  • Perfect for digital photographs that you want use outside the Photo Album.

Once you upload graphics through these two tools, you can then easily select from a standard library of graphics and your own uploaded graphics.

From the Rich Text Editor you can select the Image Insert button which will open the screen shown on your left. Many will recognize this screen and have used to it insert graphics into their content. There is a new Graphics Library button to the right of the Image URL field. By clicking on this button you will have access to view and select from the standard library of images and your own uploaded images. No more messing around with URLs or website addresses for graphics. A separate guide on “How to use graphics in a SOAR website” is now available at Admin/Online Help/How Tos. Check it out for detailed instructions on how to use this new feature.

The old Site Themes had places to upload graphics directly at the top of Custom Pages and the Welcome Message. This feature has been depreciated in favor of the much more flexible method above. Any graphics you had set using the direct upload feature have been moved directly into the content of your pages. You can now edit these graphics using the Insert Image button of the Rich Text Editor.
