8/22/11 - Service Interruptions for myPack customersCub Scout Packs, On Monday August 22nd, 2011 we rebuilt one of our Database Servers after a hardware failure. This server is the home for approximately 1/3 of our Cub Scout Pack customers. Since then the Database Server has experienced periods of connectivity loss, during which customer’s will receive an “Unable to connect to database server” error while accessing their sites. At first these periods coincided with updates we have been doing to the server in preparation for the 9/12/2011 release. It is clear however that the issue is not related to our updates. The service interruptions have lasted between 10 and 30 minutes and generally occur early in the morning. Our server monitoring allows us to see the service interruption within 5 minutes of occurrence via text message. We then restart the database service and full website service is restored. We are working on identifying the root cause of the issue and resolving it. We wanted to let you know of the problem, so that should you encounter it you did not worry that the data in your site has been lost. This is not a “data loss” issue. The issue is a connectivity issue meaning you just lose access to your data. This issue does not affect Boy Scout Troop customers. By soar at 2011-09-13 15:34
