Update: Email Lists

We have updated the Email List features with a number of enhancements to increase usability of this important feature for SOAR customers.

  1. Sender not a member of Email List
    • A sender would not receive a copy of the email when they sent an email to an Email List they are not a member of.
    • We have added delivery of a copy of the email to the non-member sender.
    • The sender still needs to be authorized to send the email, like normal.
  2. List Members in CC fields
    • If an email address is already a member of the Email List, we now remove the email address if it occurs in the CC field.
    • This will prevent duplicate emails being sent to the individual when Reply All is used.
  3. Apple email issues
    • In the past there has been intermittent email issues delivering message to Apple email addresses - @icloud.com, @me.com, etc.
    • Apple has confirmed the problem, but has yet to provide a fix.
    • We have found work arounds for these issues and included them in the SOAR Email List feature.
    • There should be no more issues delivering email to Apple email addresses
  4. No return message in inbox for sender
    • Gmail and a couple of other providers have a "feature" that is often confusing to SOAR customers.
    • If you send an email FROM a Gmail account to a distribution list (any on the Internet, not just SOAR's), and the email comes back to the same FROM address as a list member, Gmail will NOT show a separate email in the Gmail Inbox.
    • Gmail believes you have already seen the message because you sent it.
    • They automatically place the return message in your archive - the classify this as a "feature".
    • SOAR has modified the MESSAGE-ID header in Email List messages to make sure the return email shows up in the Gmail (and other providers) inbox.
    • This will provide the "feedback" that the message went through successfully.
    • For those of who download their Gmail via POP you may notice a duplicate of each email you send. One without the [] prefix (the one you sent) and one with the [] prefix (the one that came back from the Email List). Not perfect, but better than no messages showing back up in your Inbox.
